$120,000 in Scholarships Awarded at Annual Event, This Year Virtually

Scholarship Awards 2021

Every year, we honor deserving students with scholarship funds generously supported by industry and individual benefactors of our innovative degree programs. Our event this year was held April 22, virtually via Zoom. Students, parents, faculty and industry donors logged in to enjoy the event and celebrate the achievements. 106 scholarships were awarded, totalling $120,000 to students in our Digital Retailing, Merchandising and Hospitality and Tourism degree programs.

In the areas of Merchandising and Digital Retailing, some of the scholarship benefactors were Nordstrom, Fossil, The Apparel Group and JCPenney. In Hospitality and Tourism, some of the awards came from J.W. Marriott, Banfi Vintners, Ben E. Keith, Gaylord Texan Resort and Spring Creek Barbeque. There are also private and family scholarships awarded annually, which include the Lucille Murchison Scholarship and the Ellen L. Flottman Endowed Scholarship.

In addition to the student scholarships, several alumni, faculty and staff awards were also handed out. Alumni and Honorary awards were given to Sabrina Houssain, Mike Pistana, Gary McCrary, Ruth Crowley and the Joe Guerra Family. Faculty and staff awards were given to Kelly Spry and Andrew Johnson (CMHT Staff Summit Award); Josiam Bharath (CMHT Research Impact Award); Jodi Duryea (CMHT Teaching Excellence Award); and Linda Mihalick and Harold Lee (CMHT Faculty Service Champion Award).

We congratulate all of our deserving students and award recipients!
