The annual Shop.org retail conference was held last week in Las Vegas, where about 10,000 retail leaders gathered to keep abreast of the continually changing retail landscape. I participated in the industry conversations at the Executive Afternoon as well as keynote sessions and demonstrations in the Innovation Lab. At UNT in our Digital Retailing and Consumer Experience Management programs, we have a strong vision and commitment to continually invest in being certain we are always up-to-date and current as we remain in alignment with the industry that will employ our future graduates.

Industry conferences have an overarching theme based on the biggest issues pressing business and people and where their focus and resources need to be aligned. At Shop.org, this matched exactly to our upcoming Executive + Scholar event, where the theme is The Value Equation: The Customer in the Center.

There were numerous speakers who added rich content to the conversation, a sample included:

·         Amy Vener of Pinterest – How machine learning can help deliver better customer experiences

·         Kiran Mani of Google – Perspectives on artificial intelligence in retail

·         Trevor Sumner of Perch Interactive – In-store technologies that are making a difference

·         Shrenik Sadalgi of Wayfair – Growing commerce and loyalty with voice technology

It was a packed three day agenda that left everyone ready to tackle learning the next wave of technology and implement it into retail environments as we continually meet customer expectations.
