Merchandising, Digital Retailing and Consumer Experience Students Head to NYC for Industry Conference

Linda Mihalick and students in New York

Our annual trip to New York was a big success, where I led a group of 13 of our Digital Retailing, Consumer Experience Management and Merchandising students to attend the NRF Student Program. This was my fourth time leading the trip and UNT’s 6th attendance. Students experience a jam-packed 2 days listening to professional business presentations along with about 700 others from universities around the country. Featured speakers this year included J.K. Symancyk from PetSmart, Alison Hahn from Sephora and Jane Blain Gilbertson of Blain’s Farm & Fleet. Many college recruiters also attended the weekend event, holding an on-site job fair, providing a forum for students to interview for permanent jobs and internships. I was also invited to speak at the Educator Breakfast, sharing how I mentor and encourage students to actively participate in opportunities.

Merchandising and Digital Retailing students who are members of NRFSA can apply each fall to go on the trip, with preference given to Seniors and Juniors. Applications for the 2021 trip will open in October.
