2020 Student Research Symposium Goes Digital

UNT GDRRC Student Research Competition

While our annual April GDRRC Consumer Experience Symposium was forced to be abruptly cancelled due to the pandemic, we worked quickly to create the Student Research Competition portion in a virtual format so that the students who had worked hard all year would have a forum to present their work. The event was well-attended and a huge success, adapting to an online format.

The 12 participating students and student teams were provided a template and instructed to video record their presentations, simulating how they would present in an in-person environment. Next, the CMHT Research Committee, led by committee chair Dr. Daniel Spears, reviewed all submissions and selected the top bodies of work. Once the winners were selected, faculty, students, administrators and invited guests joined for an online Zoom award presentation.

The winning researchers were:

Cindy Carrillo - Best Research

Ana Garcia - Most Innovative Research

Mya Nguyen - Most Significant Industry Application

Rina Alshaer - Most Significant Industry Application

Aracelli Hernandez Calderon, Genesea Black-Lanoutte, Adity Dhungana - Most Innovative Project

Malorie Trujillo, Matthew Clausen, Irene Kaberere, Tristen Thompson - Best Project Design

Congratulations to all of our students!
